Twelve approvals this week, all but one quite Rusty and well within the guidelines Facepunch is trying to promote. The one outlier is the Scudpunk hoodie, which is a streamer skin. Read on to get the whole story.
Best skin of the week: Spitfire MP5 by Estavos.
It's hard to say if placing this door on the outside of your base will make raiders want to blow you up more, or less. On the one hand, you could be saying your clan is a pack of school kids armed with slingshots. Or you could be saying you're an experienced player into buying skins, so maybe they should pick on someone else.
We think it's the latter. Buy skins and display them prominently. Other players will fear you. School Bus Door courtesy of Vitalik.
This pleasantly decorated small wood box will give your grim raider base or cannibal den the rustic, lived-in feel it deserves. Remember, it's not a clan house, it's a clan home. Aesthetics count, especially the little stuff. Treat your merry band of murderers to a little old fashioned homey craftsmanship, even if they fill the box with skulls instead of seeds. Finally, a mask for brutes who have lost the power of human speech or just don't have much to say, this mask is perfect for murdering a player in silence and anonymity, then standing over the body and watching him writhe helpless on the ground, bleeding out.
Although the mask is relatively simple, the artist took pains to streak the rust and apply it in patches. We do wish the artist had paid more attention to the cap the mask is attached to--that's a lot of space to just assign a leather texture. By Andrey.
A simple semi-auto pistol skin by Mental Disability, painted black with flames on the barrel. The paint job has an amateurish appearance, and there are traces of rust near the muzzle. Realistic and to the point, we expect this skin to sell well.
Here's an excellent coffee can mask by Abracadaniel, an artist who has been making skins since they were first introduced into the game. This is an older skin that we're glad to see win approval. The area around the chin guard is what make this skin so good--the spikes, bolts, rust, and checkerboard pattern showing the metal came from somewhere else give it a fierce and Rusty look.
Here is an excellent skin by Estavos. It's got a rough and raw look with a quick and dirty paint job. It's also got a shark's mouth painted on the end of the barrel, like a WW2 fighter plane. We think this is Estavos' best skin to date, very glad to see it win approval.
A handsome shirt and jerkin, leather reinforced for heavy work in cold places, or a hard day's ride.
A tough metal face plate in the modern style, all sharp spikes, black leather and cold iron.
Plate and mail, modern style. Tire rubber to soften blunt blows, scrap metal plates for the sharp ones.
A streamer skin for popular Youtuber Scudpunk by artist Oxhid3. It kind of violates a few of the do's and don'ts, except for the last one: ignore any of these do’s and don’ts whenever your Muse commands.
Sometimes Facepunch steps outside the box and approves a skin they wouldn't ordinarly accept. In this case, we believe the story is that Scudpunk is seriously ill, and they were hoping revenue from the skin would help out with the medical bills. So if you like Scudpunk's work or just want to help him out, buy the skin!
A good looking metal hatchet skin by Brajkula. It's got an engraved axe head, wood handle, and cloth wrapping, all well aged and scratched up .
That cloth wrapping was the subject of some workshop controversy over the last few days. It appears another artist had copied the same cloth wrapping on his own skin, and the accusations and counter accusations began to fly. However, Brajkula's skin was posted to the workshop first, so Facepunch went with the Ancient Artifact Hatchet.
A simple, Rusty large wood box by Steve Dredd. It's got rusted corrugated tin siding, peeling paint, and and old fashioned keyhole on the lid. We do wish the sides had more detail, since that's the part of the box you see in your loot room.
